Following the success of the Special Lok Adalat organised by Discom BSES,where over 92 per cent of the cases were settled on the spot,Discom NDPL on Monday announced that it too will organise its fourth and fifth special Lok Adalat,in association with the Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee,on March 19 and 26 respectively.
The Discom has already organised three Lok Adalats previously where almost 200 cases were settled. In terms of revenue, the Lok Adalats are certainly helping Discoms clear their huge backlog of pending cases.
While the BSES is still calculating its figures, the NDPL officials revealed that cases worth almost Rs 27 lakh were settled in its first two Lok Adalats. The BSES special Lok Adalat, meanwhile, saw a surge of settlements with almost 2,333 cases being settled in the course of two days. Consumers have been given 15 days after settlement to clear their entire dues and in some cases have been granted permission to pay in 3 to 4 installments.
Lok Adalats settle cases involving direct theft and dishonest abstraction of energy.
