Two years after it was conceptualised, the New Delhi Municipal Council has completed its survey for the pilot project that will ensure uninterrupted water supply to its residents. The tendering process is expected to start soon.

“We started it as PPP project,in collaboration with Delhi Jal Board. It was conceptualised when DJB was starting its PPP projects to provide water round-the-clock. The private partner was supposed to handle water supply and billing. But after residents’ welfare associations and others protested against privatisation of water,we decided to run this project on our own,” a senior official at the council said.
