Mumbai News Highlights: The Mumbai Police on Thursday told the Bombay High Court that they have initiated a preliminary enquiry against former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and his kin on a complaint about alleged disproportionate assets. The Thackerays sought dismissal of the PIL on the ground that it was filed on assumptions and without any factual foundation.
Meanwhile, the Air Quality Index (AQI) of Mumbai was reported worse than Delhi on Thursday morning. The readings observed in SAFAR dashboard showed Mumbai’s overall AQI as 315, which is regarded as ‘Very Poor’; while Delhi’s AQI this morning was 263, which is ‘Poor’. Climate experts have re-asserted that unless the wind-speed increases, the city’s AQI may not to improve.
In other news, The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday opposed in the Bombay High Court the bail plea of former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh in a corruption case lodged by the CBI, and said the NCP leader can’t be automatically granted bail in the case just because he was granted relief in a money-laundering case, and the two cases cannot be equated.
