Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta (File)Several upcoming and existing metro stations in the Pitampura–Haiderpur belt will be renamed to reflect local identity and improve passenger clarity, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Sunday.
According to her announcement, the proposed North Pitampura station in QU Block will now be called North Pitampura–Prashant Vihar Metro Station. The proposed Pitampura North station will be renamed as Haiderpur Village Metro Station, while the current Pitampura station will be known as Madhuban Chowk Metro Station.
Gupta made the announcement during the arrival of the Raj Kalash Yatra in Haiderpur, held in honour of soldiers of the Rezang La War on Sunday. Commenting on the renaming, the CM said that it will help commuters clearly identify stations with surrounding neighbourhoods.
Work on widening Max Hospital Road and constructing an underpass is progressing, she said, adding that it is expected to ease traffic movement in the area.
