A year after French retailer Carrefour SA forayed into the India retail market,German wholesale retailer Metro AG is all set to open its first store in the Capital later this month.

Describing Delhi as a “tough market”,the company’s official said the cash-and-carry centre would operate out of the Agarwal Fun City Mall in East Delhi’s Karkardooma.

“While the traditional distribution system in Delhi is very strong, our clientele is expected to be well educated and more exposed to the modern market,” a company spokesperson told Newsline.

He said the company would conduct supplier training programmes in Delhi to support and guide various target groups, including traders, chefs, restaurant owners, caterers and dhabas.

The store would be kept open through the year, from 6 am to 10 pm everyday.
