Police are struggling to establish a sequence of events leading to the alleged gangrape of a 19-year-old woman, who was found in a semi-conscious state near the gurdwara in Moti Bagh on Thursday morning.

The medical examination of the woman is also in contradiction of her allegations of gangrape.

The doctors at Safdarjung Hospital, where the woman was admitted to Gynaecology Emergency ward, said no “visible assault marks on her body or external genital injuries” were found during her examination.

Dr B D Athani,Medical Superintendent of Safdarjung Hospital, said,“We did not find any visible, external genital injuries, and we have stated that in our report. Now,it is now for the police to investigate and establish the case.”

Doctors collected the woman’s vaginal swabs, which will be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to test for semen samples. The clothes she was wearing during the alleged assault have also been sent to the FSL.

Doctors said the woman was brought to the hospital after 8.30 am and was under the influence of some intoxicant till the afternoon.

“We have collected her blood samples to confirm the nature of the intoxicating substance she had been given. We expect the reports by Saturday,” Dr Athani said.

Doctors said after she regained consciousness in the afternoon,a psychiatric work-up was performed and her statement taken by police. “A team of psychiatrists examined her and gave her the necessary support, before she gave her statement to the police,” a doctor said.

He said by the evening, the psychiatrists who examined her said she was conscious and seemed well oriented. She is likely to be discharged on Friday.

There are contradictory reports on where the woman was raped — police said she told them that she was raped in a building with “big gate” in Gurgaon, but another officer said she was raped in the rear seat of the car.

Police said the woman in her statement said she lost consciousness when they entered a building “in Gurgaon with a big gate” and came to only in the morning.

Police have also questioned why did neither her husband nor her employer reported her as missing when she did not return home through the night.

The security guards of the area where the woman worked in Defence Colony said she was living with her employers for the past one month, when she joined as their domestic help. They told police that they had seen her leaving the building on Wednesday night.

But the woman reportedly told police that she lived with her husband in a neighbouring locality.

Police are yet establish where the men dumped the woman.

The fact that the auto driver managed to cross the Gurgaon-Delhi border without being checked by the police personnel has also raised questions. “It is strange why he (auto driver) dropped her outside this gurdwara,” a police officer said.
