A 27-year-old married man died after he was allegedly beaten up and thrown from the fourth floor balcony of his 18-year-old “girlfriend’s” house in Sushant Lok by her brother-in-law and another person, said Gurgaon police Sunday.
Police identified the person killed as Ishwar, owner of a garments shop in Jahangirpuri in northwest Delhi. He died a day before his third wedding anniversary, said the police, adding that it was not clear yet if the teenager knew of his marital status. Ishwar reportedly befriended the teenager, who is from Rajasthan and works in a beauty parlour in Gurgaon, on Facebook around six months ago, said the police.
“The two decided to meet on February 13. Ishwar reached HUDA Metro station and met his alleged girlfriend there. The two then went to her flat,” said Sandeep Singh, SHO, Sushant Lok police station.
Around 8.30 pm, the girl’s brother-in-law, Ramesh, and his friend, Anil, happened to come to the flat and found the two together, said the officer. Ramesh and Anil then allegedly beat up Ishwar and threw him from the balcony, added the officer.
“Fearing that Ishwar might die, the two then took him to a private hospital on Khandsa Road. They told the hospital authorities he had been in a road accident. Ishwar had succumbed to his injuries by then and the hospital authorities informed the police. On sustained questioning, the girl narrated the entire incident and the two were arrested,” said Singh.
Police have arrested Ramesh (30), a resident of Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan, and Anil (25), a resident of Mahendergarh in Haryana. Deepak Saharan, DCP (East), Gurgaon police, said, “The accused have been booked under sections 302 (murder), 201 (disappearance of evidence) and 34 (common intention) of Indian Penal Code.”
Ishwar’s body was handed over to his father, who came from Ahmedabad, after post-mortem, he added.
