The bodies of a man and his son were found in their apartment in a high-rise in Ghaziabad late on Thursday, according to police.
“No FIR has been registered so far. The bodies have been sent for an autopsy and reports are expected tomorrow. Only then can we confirm how they died,” a police officer said.
Police, however, suspect it to be a case of poisoning. “The bodies were found foaming at the mouth. The victims, Gurpal Singh Dhillon (75) and his son Sumit Pal Singh Dhillon (40), had been living in the flat for the past six years. Gurpal’s daughter and her husband used to live with them before moving to America a few months ago. Gurpal was retired while Sumit did not work as he was mentally unsound,” the officer said.
Police said when Gurpal’s daughter couldn’t reach the victims despite calling them repeatedly on Thursday night, she alerted the landlord. He alerted police after no one answered the door after repeated knocks.
“Gurpal was found on the bed and the son was on the floor… Since Gurpal had spoken to his daughter on Thursday morning, both could not have been dead for very long,” the officer said.
