A man was killed and his wife injured after the car they were travelling in crashed into a tree in Gurgaon on Saturday morning. Police said the couples Honda City caught fire soon after the crash.
According to police,Saurav Mehra (31) and his wife Niti were returning from a party in Udyog Vihar when the incident took place.
Around 6 am,as their car reached Jwala Mill near Kapashera border,Mehra,who was driving the car,lost control and crashed into a tree, a police officer said.
Eyewitnesses said the car was travelling at a high speed and driver of the vehicle had lost control after some object came under the wheel.
Passersby pulled the occupants out just before the car caught fire. Mehra and his wife were rushed to a nearby hospital,where Saurav succumbed to injuries,police said.
His wife Niti was later shifted to another private hospital. Her condition continues to be critical,investigating officer Ajit Kumar,Udyog Vihar police station,said. Saurav was a transporter by profession and was residing in DLF Phase-I.
