Man held for killing wife

Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a 30-year-old man for killing his wife in Central Delhi’s Paharganj area earlier this month suspecting her of having an illicit relationship.

Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a 30-year-old man for killing his wife in Central Delhi’s Paharganj area earlier this month suspecting her of having an illicit relationship.

Mohammad Rashid,who is from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh,used to live with his wife Shazia (22) in Old Delhi before she left for her parents’ home after an argument.

Suspecting that she was having an extra-marital relationship,Rashid allegedly smothered Shazia to death with a pillow in a hotel,a police officer said.

Shazia’s body was recovered from a room in a Paharganj hotel.

The postmortem report confirmed “smothering” as cause of the death.
