Man held for duping trader of Rs 20 cr

A man was arrested on Tuesday on the charge of duping a businessman of Rs 20 crore on the pretext of selling him land in Jor Bagh and Mayfair Garden. These properties were found to be owned by the government,police said.

Pawan Solanki (38) was arrested by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch after it received a complaint from Ajay Chaudhary,the businessman.

Chaudhary,a resident of Vasant Kunj,had entered into an agreement worth Rs 20 crore with Solanki and his accomplices,after they showed him documents of properties located in Jor Bagh and Mayfair Garden area,police said.

“In the absence of any construction on the site,complainant fell into the trap believing the forged documents to be genuine,” Deputy Additional Commissioner of Police (EOW) Harendra Singh said.

“However,our investigations revealed that the Jor Bagh property belonged to the government and was in the possession of the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

During questioning,Solanki confessed to his crime and disclosed the names of accomplices,police said. He has been remanded in judicial custody,Singh said.
