A 57-year-old fell to his death from a multi-storeyed building in South Delhi’s Vasant Vihar area on Tuesday afternoon. Police said though no suicide note has been recovered, either from the man or the spot, they have begun inquest proceedings in the case.
“Ravindra Bhushan, a resident of Vikaspuri, was working as a senior analyst with a private company located on the fifth floor of Capital Court building in Munirka, Vasant Vihar. Prima facie, it looks like he used the fire exit to reach the terrace and then jumped to his death. Inquest proceedings under Section 144 of the CrPC have begun and we are questioning his relatives,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Prem Nath said.
According to police, Bhushan reported to work as usual on Tuesday. Around 2 pm, he climbed the fire exit stairs in the rear of the building and reached the terrace. From there he took a fatal jump.
Locals and police rushed him to a nearby government hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Police then informed his family and his body was sent for a post-mortem examination. A senior police officer said, “Bhushan had been working with the firm for the last 25 years. The company had shifted to the Capital Court office five years ago. We are probing if he was suffering from depression.”
Bhushan is survived by his wife and two daughters.
