Ordering a year of community service, the High Court on Monday directed a 25-year-old IAS aspirant to teach at a home for the visually impaired on Panchkuian Road. The IAS aspirant Sandeep Pandey as been accused of molesting his neighbours 14-year-old daughter.
The order came after Pandey,a North Delhi resident, approached the Delhi High Court to quash the FIR filed against him over the incident, which allegedly in took place February last year.
According to the FIR filed on February 1,2012,Pandey had forcefully taken the 14-year-old to his room, while she was on her way to a friends house, and misbehaved with her. Police had registered an FIR under Sections 354 (molestation) and 342 (wrongful confinement).
In his plea seeking the quashing of the FIR,Pandey said he was an IAS aspirant and a good student, who was also the bread earner for his eight younger siblings. He had claimed that a compromise had already been entered into and his neighbour had agreed to withdraw the FIR.
However, the court of Justice Hima Kohli awarded the punishment and quashed the FIR after public prosecutor Naveen Sharma argued that the accused should not be let off without any punishment.
