What happens when a cool stuntman and a supermodel collide on screen? Sparks fly, says actor Kareena Kapoor, talking about her role in her Kambakkht Ishq where shes paired opposite Akshay Kumar. Kapoor made a fleeting stopover at Delhis Ramada Plaza to promote the film that releases on July 3. Dressed in a black and white striped dress,Kapoor acknowledges her previous movies with Kumar have been disasters (were still recovering from the debacle of Tashan),but she insists that this performance is her best ever. Our chemistry is good. If the script works,it is bound to be successful, she says confidently. First time director Sabbir Khan has managed to get a fancy cast together with Hollywood stars like Sylvester Stallone and Denise Richards doing scenes for Kambakkht Ishq. Ive worked as an assistant director on some of Akshays films, and I wrote this film with him in mind, explained Khan. The budget for the movie is a whopping Rs 60 crores, and it has been shot in exotic locations like Venice and edited in Universal Studios.
A shade different from her character in Tashan,Kapoor explains her character in Kambakkht… is that of an aggressive,hot-headed and glamorous person. I am not like her in real life. So it is much more fun to play someone you cannot relate to, she said. High on style Kapoor explains this movie is a fashion victims dream come true. The fun part was not balancing on a superbike at high speed with Akshay, but trying on 20-30 pairs of shoes, laughed Kapoor. My stylist Aki Narula had short listed 55 pairs for me.
Then,of course, working alongside Hollywood biggie Stallone was the other high point. I have two scenes with him and it was a privilege to interact with someone whose movies I have grown up watching, she said. Having just flown in on a connecting flight from Dubai after attending to some work in London,Kapoor could not hide her puffy eyes, but tried her best to be amiable and answered questions patiently, occasionally flashing her brilliant smile.
However, she was caught off-guard when posed with a question about her own dialogue in the film: Men want only one thing. Kapoor pondered before replying,It is a very individual choice and depends on the situation. But when girls really talk, they discuss their boyfriends too, she signed off.
