A long wait time for surgeries, a non-functional operation theater, little time for patient consultation — these were among several issues noted at Lok Nayak Hospital, the Delhi government’s biggest facility, by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) in its report on the Capital’s healthcare system, tabled in the Assembly on Friday.

At other prominent Delhi government hospitals like Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital (RGSSH) and Janakpuri Super Specialty Hospital, the report noted, several modular operations theaters were idle due to a shortage of manpower.

At Lok Nayak, the average wait time for major surgeries in the Surgery and Burns & Plastic Surgery departments was 2-3 months and 6-8 months, respectively, the report said.
