A Delhi sessions court on Thursday sentenced seven persons, including a woman,to life imprisonment for rioting and brutally murdering a man with swords. All seven are family members, and the dispute broke out with the victim,Ajay, after he objected to the debris they had thrown outside his house.
Those convicted were Anil,Anar,Raj,Shailendra,Anand,Dharampal,Ashok and his wife Asha.
The court convicted the seven after hearing the testimony of Ajays minor son,who was on the roof of his house when the incident took place.
He identified all the accused persons and told the court that he kept telling them not to hurt his father. The court held the sons testimony as trustworthy and reliable.
I am of the view that the prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubt that the accused persons have committed rioting, and they were members of an unlawful assembly which was armed with deadly weapons, Additional Sessions Judge Bimla Kumari said. The court also imposed a fine of
Rs 35,000 each on all seven convicts.
