Three killed, three injured in blast at Delhi CNG filling station

All three deceased have been identified as employees working at the station.  The driver of the vehicle is among those injured.

According to Delhi Fire Services (DFS) officials, the incident occurred at 3.47 pm at the CNG pump where the truck had gone to refuel. Fire service officials said that the truck’s gas tank burst while a CNG pipe was being connected to it.

Four fire tenders were rushed to the spot, which is located near the Tikri Kalan Metro station. The fire was doused and the pump cordoned off.

Three station employees — Manish, Brahamjeet and Sunny — faced the brunt of the blast and succumbed to their injuries. 

“Manish, 25, lived in Baba Haridas Colony in Delhi and was an employee at the station. He was the one who was filling the CNG cylinder in the truck. The two other workers with him were rushed to the hospital, but succumbed to their injuries,” said a senior police officer.

Brahamjeet’s nephew, Aditya, said that he got a call at 4.30 pm that his uncle had been critically injured.

“I went to the station but an ambulance had not arrived for him. I took him to Jeevan Jyoti Hospital in Bahadurgarh. He has a wife and children, and I don’t know what to tell them,” he said.
