After taking on the Centre, the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government has now decided to attack the BJP-led municipal corporations in the capital.
In what could ignite a political battle between the BJP and the AAP in the capital, the Delhi chief minister has called a ‘dialogue’ meeting with the employees of the municipal corporations, including its commissioners and senior officials.
Sources said by doing this, the CM was indirectly attempting to take control of the corporations ahead of the municipal polls in 2017. As the corporations are in direct touch with the people, the AAP believes winning the corporations was crucial to its gameplan in Delhi,
sources said.
Incidentally, the AAP has found a supporter in BJP supporter Madhu Kishwar. She tweeted on Sunday, “Given the state of corruption, citizen harassment and mismanagement in the BJP-run MCD, even AAP sceptics like me will vote for the AAP, not BJP in MCD elections.”
According to sources, with the municipal corporations led by the BJP, the AAP was finding it difficult to govern the city effectively.
This would be the first time that any CM would be holding a session with employees of the corporations at Ramlila Maidan, challenging the BJP’s control over the local bodies.
“The CM is keeping a tab on the funds being spent by the corporations to guard against allegations of the BJP-led corporations, just in case the government decides not to give the funds the corporations get every year,” a BJP leader said.
