Gurgaon: Jailed gangster Kaushal Chaudhary’s wife held for extortion bid

The current case was registered based on a complaint by a man who worked at a Gurgaon hotel on September 15. As per the FIR, someone called the hotel, identifying themselves as a member of the Kaushal Chaudhary and Amit Dagar gang, and demanded a ransom of Rs 2 crore. The caller also threatened to open fire at the hotel if the ransom wasn’t paid and warned of dire consequences if the police were contacted.

According to Dahiya, Manisha has three cases against her in Gurgaon and one each in Punjab and Rajasthan. “During questioning, the accused revealed that apart from the extortion case, she had orchestrated the firing at the Highway King Hotel in Neemrana, Rajasthan, for extortion purposes. She also admitted supplying illegal weapons to four individuals arrested in a police encounter in the Manesar Valley and another accused arrested in a different case in Sector-29,” Dahiya said.

Upon reviewing Manisha’s criminal record, it was found that she has three prior cases registered in Gurgaon for extortion, murder, and fraud. She has previously served time in Bhondsi jail, and Hoshiarpur jail in Punjab, the ACP said. “She was on bail in another extortion case for which she was arrested two years ago. She also had gone to jail five years ago for a case of fraud,” said Gurgaon police spokesperson ASI Sandeep Kumar.

Last year, Twinkle, wife of Amit Dagar — a close aide of Kaushal Chaudhary — had allegedly carried out extortion at Khandsa mandi. She was arrested for allegedly intimidating the shopkeepers by taking the names of her husband and Chaudhary, and selling vegetables at inflated prices and preventing others from selling without their permission.
