Jawaharlal Nehru University’s students’ union for the year 2012-13 has handed over charge to the Election Committee (EC),which will now be responsible for conducting the election in the campus. The EC has announced the schedule for the election,which will be held this September. Office bearers for four central posts and 31 school councillors will be elected in the election. Nominations for all posts will be filed on Tuesday.

School general body meetings,where students interact with the councillor nominees will take place on September 6 and 9. The university general body meeting is scheduled for September 10. The presidential debate,a unique feature of JNU students’ politics will take place on September 11,after which the university will go to polls on September 13.

For the second consecutive year,JNU and Delhi University are holding student union elections on the same day. More than 7,000 students studying in the university will elect representatives for the next academic session.
