It is an election between the people and the BJP: Kanhaiya Kumar

Kumar, though, said it was not the divisive politics that had brought the BJP to power. “They came to power because there was anti-incumbency against the Congress in 2014,” he added.

On why voters should choose him, Kumar said because their Parliamentarian has been absent “ever since he was elected”. (Express Photo)On why voters should choose him, Kumar said because their Parliamentarian has been absent “ever since he was elected”. (Express Photo)

It is an election between the people and the BJP, said Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar, the INDIA bloc candidate for North East Delhi in the Lok Sabha election.

Stating that the main focus of his poll campaign is harmony, justice and development, Kumar, referring to his campaign programmes allegedly being scuttled, said the “BJP can do whatever they like”.

Responding to a question about permissions for his campaign being rejected, he said, “This has happened but it is okay…the party in power has an advantage.”

He further said, “Initially, we had plans to file our nomination on May 1 but then he (BJP candidate Manoj Tiwari) decided to file his nomination on the same day. I do not know what exactly happened but I am not too bothered about it…”
