The Haryana government is all set to ask the CBI to probe the death of Gurgaon CJM Ravneet Gargs wife Geetanjali.
On Tuesday, the Gurgaon police recommended to the police headquarters that the case be transferred to the agency.
In a statement issued on Tuesday,Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said he would refer the case to CBI.
Gurgaon Police Commissioner Alok Mittal said: Although we are on the right track, our SIT team had again questioned Ravneet Garg, his parents and a cousin on Tuesday. But since Geetanjalis family has demanded a CBI inquiry,we have recommended to the state police headquarters that the case be transferred to the CBI.
Geetanjalis family had expressed dissatisfaction over the pace of probe being carried out in the case.
Omprakash Aggrawal,Geetanjalis father, said,My son Pradeep Aggarwal and a few of my relatives met Chief Minister Hooda and apprised him of the delay in investigation by the Gurgaon police. He assured us all help and said he would recommend the case to CBI.
Geetanjali was found dead with bullet injuries in a park in the high security Police Lines area of Gurgaon last week. Although police initially said it appeared to be a case of suicide, her family alleged that she was murdered.
