Making way for work to be awarded,several flyover projects are expected to get the green signal from the Delhi government in the coming week.
The flyover projects are to make Ring Road a signal-free stretch and to decongest Outer Ring Road along Vikaspuri to Wazirabad stretch.
PWD officials claim the projects will be awarded before the end of the month.
The Congress-led Delhi government has been pushing to start work on major infrastructure projects ahead of the Assembly elections,scheduled for later this year.
Among the projects on the anvil are:
z An elevated road above the 2.1-km stretch on Ring Road between Prembari Pul and Azadpur. The road will cost approximately Rs 2,485 crore.
z A 4.3-km-long road from Vikaspuri to Meera Bagh,of which 3.3 km will be elevated over five major intersections. Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has laid the foundation stone for the project.
z To decongest Outer Ring Road,a series of elevated roads with a total length of 8.5 km have been planned. The first elevated road will be between Vikaspuri and Meera Bagh,the second will be between Mangolpuri and Madhuban Chowk,and the third from Madhuban Chowk to Mukarba Chowk.
z A six-lane,8-km-long parallel road will be constructed between Mukarba Chowk and Wazirabad.
Bids have been received for elevated roads of Mangolpuri to Madhuban Chowk and Madhuban Chowk to Mukarba Chowk. The tenders will be floated again for Mukarba Chowk to Wazirabad project. The bids have also been received for Peeragari to Azadpur project, a PWD official said.
