IIT-Delhi faculty members on mass casual leave

After their colleagues in IITs in Chennai and Mumbai,it is now the turn of faculty members of the country’s premier technology institute here,IIT-Delhi,to go on a mass casual leave on Tuesday,in protest against disparities in pay.

“The faculty association has appealed to all its members to go on casual leave tomorrow to protest against the government’s decision on pay issues to IIT staff,” Anurag Sharma,Physics professor of the institute said. He said there is no pressure on any faculty member to go on leave ,but hoped that almost all the 450 members will abide by the decision. Sharma said there is resentment among professors over the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations for the hike in pay of IIT faculty.
