IIT Delhi among top 50 engineering institutions in world

The institute has been ranked 48th globally with a score of 80.1 under the subjects of engineering and technology, according to the 13th edition of the QS World University Ranking.

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has figured in the list of top 50 institutions in the world under the subjects of engineering and technology. The institute has been ranked 48th globally with a score of 80.1, according to the 13th edition of the QS World University Ranking by Subject 2023, which was released on Wednesday.

Last year, the institute was ranked 72nd.

A total of 54 specific subjects were ranked by the QS this year under five broad subject areas that assessed 1,594 institutions from across the globe.

In the engineering and technology category, five programmes, including electrical and electronics (49th rank), computer science (67th rank), mechanical (70th rank), civil (ranked in the bracket 51-100) and chemical engineering (96th rank) featured amongst the top 100 subjects globally under the QS World Ranking.

Some subjects were also ranked among the top two domestically: electrical and electronics (1st), civil and structure (1st), statistics and operations research (1st), computer science & information systems (2nd), chemical (2nd), material science (2nd) and biology sciences (2nd).
