A day after an electrical engineer of NTPC was murdered,Delhi Police said it is looking for carjackers suspected to be involved in the murder.

Saji PV (41) was beaten up and left to die near Kherki Daula,on Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway,by assailants who drove off with his Maruti Ritz car on Saturday.

Saji’s residence was in Gurgaon and his office was based in Badarpur,Southwest Delhi.

The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police is hunting for the car thieves,while a team of Gurgaon police will be visiting the NTPC office in Badarpur.

Station House Officer (SHO) of Kherki Daula Narendra Singh said,“We will visit the NTPC office on Monday and try to find out more about Saji. The exact sequence of events will become clear once we talk to his colleagues and friends. We do not have any lead yet. No one has been detained for questioning.”

The shelter home in Darbaripur run by Saji’s Italian wife,Sandra,was closed for visitors on Sunday. Saji’s family took his body for funeral to Kerala.

Saji had worked for Maruti before joining as an electrical engineer for the Haryana government,his brother,George,told Newsline. He had moved to the NTPC on deputation six months ago.

Saji met Sandra at Missionaries of Charity,where she had come for voluntary service.

Nearly 20 years ago,Saji was a seminarian studying for brotherhood with Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity in Delhi. He had left the congregation after a three-year stint and obtained a diploma in electrical engineering.
