Hooch: SHO,14 cops suspended; toll 17 now

On a day when the death toll in the alleged hooch tragedy in West Delhi’s Raghubir Nagar rose to 17,the police suspended the Station House Officer (SHO) and 14 other police personnel for “negligence” in investigations.

Besides Sanjay Sharma,the SHO of Khayala police station,two sub-inspectors and 12 other police officials were placed under suspension — the suspended policemen are from both Khayala and Rajouri Garden police stations.

According to information,the police today detained three persons in connection with selling of illicit liquor in Raghubir Nagar after receiving information during the interrogation of one Seema (31),who was arrested on suspicion of selling spurious liquor in the area.

The police also raided various liquor outlets run by Sansis in parts of Nangloi and Uttam Nagar and seized several litres of adulterated liquor.

Meanwhile,another person,one Vijender Pal,succumbed at Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital today.

Locals said Vijender Pal,40,lived in B-1 block of Raghubir Nagar and was admitted in DDU on Friday (April 3) after he complained of severe stomach pain,vomiting and symptoms of blindness.
