A man allegedly committed suicide by throwing himself before a speeding train after poisoning his wife and two daughters in Dadri, near Greater Noida.

Police said they found a suicide note in which Subhash Pal,who ran a general store, said he was ending his life because of mounting debt, financial troubles, diagnosis of a “serious illness” and taunts from his parents for not having fathered a male child.

The bodies of his wife and two daughters were found in their rented house on Thursday morning. Pal’s body was found on the tracks. According to police, the four-page suicide note was recovered from an old diary signed by Pal (35). It had also been signed by his wife Anita (31). Pal wrote that he was taking this step of his own accord.

“He wrote that no one should be held responsible for his actions. He attributed his decision to financial troubles and also said he had been diagnosed with a serious illness, which he wanted to keep secret,” Dadri DSP Anuj Chaudhary said.

Pal and Anita lived in the Teacher’s Colony with their daughters Shalu (12) and Bulbul (8). According to police, the note also said that Pal’s parents had been taunting him for not having a son.

From Farrukhabad in Uttar Pradesh,Pal wrote in his note that he had stopped visiting his parents for the last few years.

According to police, the bodies of his wife and children were discovered by the landlord, who alerted neighbours.

He tried to wake them but when there was no response,he raised an alarm and called police,” DSP Chaudhary said. The landlord also told police that he last saw Pal at 5.30 am on Thursday.
