A city court on Wednesday granted bail to Dorothy, the head of a placement agency, who has been accused of torture, trafficking and bonded labour. The case pertains to an 18-year-old domestic help, who was rescued from the house of MNC executive Vandana Dhir in Vasant Kunj. The court deferred bail proceedings of Dhir.

ASJ Dharmesh Sharma granted bail to Dorothy on grounds that the help had not made any allegations against her. He held that it was doubtful whether provisions of the Bonded Labour Act were applicable in the case since the help was over 14 years old. “There are no allegations regarding the girl being deprived of her wages by the accused,” the court held while granting bail.

The court fixed the matter for hearing on November 8.
