The Delhi High Court has ordered a private school to conduct departmental inquiry against a security guard in a school, who was suspended in March 2011 for the alleged sexual harassment of female students.

Sumesh Kumar had approached the High Court in 2012,seeking revocation of the suspension. He alleged that he had been suspended from the Khalsa Girls Senior Secondary School,Paharganj, without a proper inquiry.

The court of Justice Valmiki J Mehta, however, refused to revoke the suspension. The judge observed that there were “grave charges of sexual harassment against the petitioner” and refused to interfere with the suspension. However, the court said the school had suspended Kumar without a proper inquiry into the allegations and ordered the management to conduct one within six months.
