The Gurgaon Traffic department has asked various agencies to make adequate arrangements to ensure fewer mishaps are caused by reduced visibility due to fog on the roads.
The Traffic department has written to the National Highways Authority of India,Haryana Urban Development Authority and Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon to install delineator-reflector lights on the streets to help drivers tackle poor visibility.
Installation of more reflectors or cat eyes help in bringing down the number of accidents. Boards prohibiting U-turns on roundabouts are some of the measures that would be adopted.
The Traffic department has also written to the MCG and HUDA,asking them to install streetlights.
There are stretches, like Rajiv Chowk to Sohna road, which require streetlights, said DCP (Traffic) Bharti Arora.
Meanwhile, the Expressway management firm,Delhi-Gurgaon Super Connectivity Limited (DGSCL),has also decided to take appropriate steps like marking lanes, installing reflective tapes, cat eyes, electronic signals and fog lights to avoid mishaps caused by poor visibility on roads. Patrolling of the stretches at regular intervals will also be carried out.
An MCG official said,Apart from installing reflectors, white lines will also be drawn on the roads. Our LED traffic lights will also help address the problem.
