Gurgaon starts demolition drive against unauthorised construction

At least 195 structures were demolished in Gurgaon as part of the anti-encroachment drive undertaken by district administration and Town and Country Planning department.

The drive started on Monday,on the directions of Deputy Commissioner P C Meena,and will continue till mid-April.

Demolition action has been taken in areas like Bilaspur,Bhora Kalan,Garhi Harsaru,Sadhrana and Bhondsi.

On Tuesday,10 boundary walls and eight under-construction buildings in seven illegal colonies were demolished. Six illegal colonies were in Bhora Kalan and one was in Bilaspur.

On Monday,the squad had removed around 850 illegal constructions from Bhondsi.

These included 278 boundary walls,316 level structures and 17 under-construction buildings.

On last Thursday,illegal constructions were demolished in and around village Garhi Harsaru and Sadhrana. The team razed 253 illegal structures,including 12 under-construction houses,two offices of property dealers and 218 boundary walls.

Meena has appealed to property buyers to check the legal status of land before signing an agreement.

He said the DTP and Revenue officials have been directed to provide the legal status of a colony or housing society to those who come to enquire.
