After two days of investigation into the shooting of a man in Gurgaon’s Sector 21 on Tuesday, police are relying on “circumstantial evidence” found in the form of a key chain at the crime scene on which a woman’s name was engraved.
The accused in the shooting, Akash Yadav, was sent to a juvenile home eight years ago for allegedly killing his classmate in Gurgaon’s Euro International School. This time, he allegedly shot his friend Manish Kumar five times in the chest after an argument. Police said Yadav is on the run. Three teams have been conducting raids in Dwarka, Dharuhera and Gurgaon in search of Yadav, police said.
On Friday, police brought in the woman, whose name was on the key chain, for questioning. Police sources said the woman, who was previously known to Yadav, was going to get married to Kumar. This did not go down well with Yadav, which is why police suspect he killed Kumar.

Police have not revealed the identity of the woman. Police said during questioning, the woman admitted she was once friendly with Yadav but had not been in touch with him for the last six months.
“The woman said she broke all ties with Yadav after Kumar asked her to do so,” a police officer said.
On Friday, investigating teams met two associates of Yadav in Bhondsi Jail, Gurgaon, to find out his whereabouts.
“Investigating teams also said that Yadav’s mobile phone is switched off. He has not contacted his family either,” Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rajesh Kumar said.
According to call detail records, Yadav’s last location was traced to Palam Vihar.
On Thursday, Yadav’s father Azad Singh said, “It is likely that my son has left Gurgaon and fled to Rajasthan where his relatives stay.” Singh too has been doing the rounds of the city in search of his son.
