Gurgaon: Residents protest demolition of ‘temple’ in Sikanderpur
“It was only 3-4 months ago that locals re-installed an idol of Shiva, built some walls and turned it into a small temple,” said T L Satyaprakash, deputy commissioner, Gurgaon.

Residents of Sikanderpur in Gurgaon Wednesday led a protest against the local administration’s order to demolish a temple in the area.
The residents claim they got the demolition orders Monday night, which said the temple was an “encroachment”. Residents and local ward members protested against the demolition, claiming the temple was 20 years old.

However, the Gurgaon district administration said the temple had been demolished when the Golf Course Road was being constructed.
“It was only 3-4 months ago that locals re-installed an idol of Shiva, built some walls and turned it into a small temple,” said T L Satyaprakash, deputy commissioner, Gurgaon.
The demolition was stopped Wednesday over the protests. Residents said they had written multiple times to the district department but did not receive any reply. “We have been writing letters to various departments.. but no action has been taken by the district administration,” read a memorandum by the residents.
