He said since Gurgaon is a hi-tech city that is witnessing a rise in cases of cyber crime, the internship will be open to students of engineering and computer science during their college summer holidays.

“We want to use their skills to control hi-tech crime, such as online fraud and social networking crime. We require the technical know-how of professionals, students and residents who specialise in cyber crime. We are ready to train them to work jointly with police. They will also be given training certificates.”

To modernise the force, police are also looking to develop android applications with the help of young professionals. “The Gurgaon police could learn from the young generation about latest technology. In return,we could train them in dealing with cyber crime. This coordination will help curb the growing cyber crime menace,” Mittal said.
