Following in Delhi’s footsteps,Gurgaon has set up an exclusive fast-track court on Wednesday to hear cases pertaining to crimes against women.
Complying with the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court,the District and Sessions Judge Shekhar Dhawan announced the constitution of an exclusive court to deal with cases of crimes against women.
“All such cases pending in other courts have been shifted to the court of Additional Sessions Judge Alka Malik. This court will act as a nodal court for hearing and speedily disposing cases of crime against women. All other cases in ASJ Malik’s court have been transferred to other courtrooms,” Judge Shekhar Dhawan said.
Abhimanyu Dhawan,an advocate in Gurgaon court,said: “This is a step in the right direction and goes a long way in instilling faith in the judicial system. This will reassure women that justice will be delivered quick without any hassle. Hopefully,the fast-tracking of such cases will speed up the investigations in these cases,which is the need of the hour.”
