Greater Kailash, Bijwasan, Kalkaji Election Results 2025 Highlights: Atishi wins Kalkaji, Saurabh Bharadwaj loses Greater Kailash

Conceding defeat, AAP supremo Kejriwal said the party worked for people in the Capital during their terms and would continue to help citizens. Congratulating BJP for their landslide victory, Kejriwal hoped the saffron party would fulfil its promises.

In Bijwasan, BJP's Kailash Gahlot continues steady lead by over 9,000 votes while AAP's Surender Bharadwaj trails, as per ECI.

As BJP takes lead in 47 seats, AAP in 23, saffron party members are out in streets celebrating. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva told PTI, "You can see the excitement among party workers. People of Delhi have trusted PM Modi's words. They have trusted PM Modi's agenda of development. This is a victory of PM Modi's leadership and party's national leadership who inspired workers like us. I want to say this very humbly that no we will make Delhi a developed capital."

With BJP taking lead in 48 seats and AAP in 22 seats, social activist Anna Hazare, with whom AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal was associated during numerous anti-corruption campaigns, said: “I have been saying for a long that while contesting the election, a candidate must have a character, good ideas and have no dent on their image. But, they (AAP) didn’t understand it. They got tangled in liquor and money — his (Arvind Kejriwal) image was dented because of it and that’s why they are getting fewer votes in the election.”

He added: “People saw that he (Arvind Kejriwal) talks about character but gets involved in liquor… In politics, allegations are made. One has to prove that he is not guilty. The truth will remain truth. When a meeting was held, I decided that I would not be part of the party and I have remained away from that day…”

The AAP, BJP and Congress fiercely campaigned in Kalkaji. Right in the beginning, the poll campaign witnessed Delhi CM breaking down during a press conference when asked about comments made by BJP’s Kalkaji candidate and former MP Ramesh Bidhuri about her father.

Later, Atishi alleged Atishi alleged that her party members were being threatened by BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri’s supporters, including by his nephew. On the ground, water and sewage problems have remained problems for decades.

As three more rounds of vote counting are remaining, it remains to be seen how it has impacted people.

After seven rounds of vote counting, BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri is leading by 2,882 votes while Atishi trails. The poll campaign witnessed Bidhuri courting controversies with his remarks.

He had said, “Chaar saal se log nark bhog rahe hain… Ab jab chaar mahine chunav main reh gaye, toh Atishiji in galiyon main jaise jungle main hirni bhaagti phirti hai, vaise bhaagti phir rahi hai. (For four years, people have been living in hellish conditions… When there were four months to go for the elections, Atishi ji has been running around like a doe runs in the jungle).”

Before that, Bidhuri had come under fire after he attacked Atishi for “changing” her surname from Marlena to Singh.

After three rounds of vote counting, Atishi trails by 1,039 votes as Bidhuri gains lead, according to ECI.

A BJP win would mean the party returns to power in the national capital after 27 years. It would also mean one of the biggest setbacks to the Aam Aadmi Party since it first came to power in Delhi in 2013, effectively changing the national political landscape.

Meanwhile, in Delhi, the BJP leads in 43 seats, AAP in 27 seats, and Congress has lost its lead in the lone seat it was gaining.

After first round of vote counting, BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri leads by 1,149 votes, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and Congress's Alka Lamba trail. as per the Election Commission of India.

As BJP takes lead in early trends, party candidate Kailash Gahlot exudes confidence in victory. Speaking to PTI, Gahlot says, "BJP will form government in Delhi. People showed a lot of support for us even during the election campaign. I am sure that BJP is winning."

It remains to be seen if the BJP will make a comeback in Delhi after 27 years. As vote counting is underway, the BJP leads in 48 seats, AAP in 21, and Congress in 1 out of 70 Assembly constituencies. Atishi continues to trail.

In Bijwasan, the battles are between Surender Bhardwaj of the AAP, Kailash Gahlot of the BJP and Col Devinder Kumar Sehrawat of the INC. In the last Assembly elections, the AAP’s Bhupinder Singh Joon won by a margin of 753 votes. The BJP’s Sat Prakash Rana was the runner up securing 56518 votes. In the 2020 Assembly elections, Delhi had recorded 61.46 per cent voter turnout for the 70 Assembly constituencies.

In an exclusive interview with The Indian Express, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi elucidated her major achievements as MLA and Chief Minister.

Atishi said, "As an MLA, I think that in Kalkaji, especially areas like Govindpuri and Sriniwaspuri… have faced water and sewage problems for decades. In Govindpuri, which is a very large unauthorised colony that has been regularised, water supply and sewer lines have not been upgraded for 70-80 years. In this area, 20 to 30 years ago, one family stayed on the ground floor, another on the first floor… Each (residential) plot now goes up to five stories, has approximately… two to three flats… So, where two families used to stay, now 15 families do…the requirement for water has gone up substantially and sewer lines were unable to cope…

Second, water shortage was a major issue over there… (due to) exceptional increase in population and no change of water lines… So, I feel that one of my big achievements has been that for some of these most densely populated parts of Kalaji, we have been able to provide a long-term resolution for basic water and sewerage infrastructure… we have been able to change 70-80% (water and sewer lines)… We have managed to do a lot of rainwater harvesting and groundwater usage has supplemented the water supply…"

AAP candidate from Greater Kailash and Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj says, "One whom the public supports, he wins the elections. The Arvind Kejriwal government has served people in the last 10 years... Arvind Kejriwal will become the CM of Delhi for a fourth time."

The Delhi Assembly Election Results 2025 hold much significance, as the current term witnessed former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal stepping down and going to jail for his alleged involvement in the excise policy case. Atishi, who held multiple portfolios in the Cabinet, assumed power thereafter, making this a make-or-break poll for the ruling party.

Delhi recorded a total voter turnout of 60.54%, with 60.9% of women and 60.2% of men exercising their franchise. Kalkaji recorded 54.59% voter turnout, Greater Kailash at 54.92%, and Bijwasan at 61.13%.
