Reacting to this, the AAP said Sachdeva seemingly had one job, which was “to wake up, hurl abuses at AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, and go back to sleep”.
The ruling BJP on Thursday accused the previous AAP-led Delhi government of continuously misleading the city’s Dalit community and the poor through “grand schemes”, which it alleged were “only on paper”.
“Over the past five years, the Kejriwal government introduced several schemes to attract Dalits and the poor politically, spending millions on their advertisements. However, in reality, Kejriwal only deceived them,” Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva alleged during a press conference.
Reacting to this, the AAP said Sachdeva seemingly had one job, which was “to wake up, hurl abuses at AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, and go back to sleep”.
Sachdeva further alleged that the Kejriwal government had announced schemes worth over Rs 200 crore for improving residential settlements of Dalits and the poor between 2020-21 and 2023-24, but only Rs 120.60 crore was spent. “Between 2020-21 and 2023-24, the Kejriwal government made an attractive budget allocation of Rs 250 crore for minorities, backward classes, and the poor, but only spent Rs 4.2 crore… allocated Rs 461 crore under the Chief Minister Student Talent Scheme between 2020-21 and 2023-24 but shamefully spent less than 7 per cent, only Rs 32.2 crore,” he added.
The AAP asserted it considers Babasaheb Ambedkar “our guiding principle, and has always followed the path he showed — prioritising health and education”.
“When it comes to the backward and the most backward classes, they have benefited the most from AAP’s welfare schemes — whether in school education or initiatives for Dalit children… the only job of the BJP president seems to wake up, hurl abuses at Kejriwal, and go back to sleep. Instead of this daily routine, the BJP should answer the people of Delhi — What happened to their promises? Were they just only electoral jumlas?” the AAP questioned in the statement.
