With the government looking to giving Public Distribution System (PDS) a facelift,the World Bank has offered to provide its expertise to the Delhi government.
The issue was discussed during an interaction between Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and World Bank country director Roberto Zagha and World Bank official Junaid Ahmed on Monday.
According to officials,the government is trying to re-structure the PDS system with an emphasis on removal of corruption and introducing nutritious supplies.
Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta also attended the meet.
Apart from the food distribution system,World Bank officials also offered advice on water conservation and recycling measures to resolve the water crisis. The interaction also included discussions on housing schemes,health infrastructure and property titling.
Zagha reportedly assured the government that his team will interacte with the officials to streamline the services.
