Govt launches drive against misuse of LPG cylinders

The department has constituted nine joint teams to conduct raids and take strict action against the violators.

Acting on complaints of black marketing and misuse of LPG cylinders,the Delhi government’s department of food and supplies and consumer affairs has launched a massive drive against misuse of domestic LPG cylinders for non-domestic use as well as against spurious LPG equipment,transfer of LPG from one cylinder to another and other such malpractices.

“The distributors supplying LPG cylinders are also being booked if found indulging in illegal activities. The department has constituted nine joint teams to conduct raids and take strict action against the violators,’’ an official said.

“The department has warned people indulging in malpractices in respect of LPG like sale of unauthorised LPG cylinders,unauthorised stocking of LPG cylinders and use of domestic LPG cylinders for non-domestic purposes. Strict action including registration of criminal cases against the violators under the provision of Essential Commodities Act are being taken against them,’’ the official added.
