The Special Cell of the Delhi Police on Monday arrested a ‘godman’ — who is wanted in connection with several crimes, including murder — from northwest Delhi’s Begumpur area. Satender, 43, had earlier managed to escape twice from the custody of Punjab Police.
Police said they had received information about the accused paying a visit to his relative’s place in Begumpur. “We laid a trap for him. After a brief scuffle, we arrested him on Monday. He confessed to his crimes during interrogation,” a police officer said. The accused, while working as a ‘patwari’ under the Punjab government, started imparting spiritual lessons to people, police said.
