A gang of six men allegedly assaulted two Gurgaon police constables checking vehicles on Wednesday.

The assault took place after the personnel asked the men to show their vehicle documents. Police said the men even forced one of the constables inside their car, assaulted him and threw him on the road. The youths have been identified as residents of Fazilpur village.

According to police, Sadar police team had put up barricades on the Fazilpur village road. The personnel, including a woman constable, were deployed there for checking vehicles.

ACP (Crime) Rajesh Kumar said, “Three youths on a two-wheeler tried to evade the police team but the personnel caught hold of them and asked them for their driving licence and vehicle registration documents. The youths distracted the policemen and escaped from the spot. They went into a mall on Sohna Road.”

The policemen alerted the PCR van and two constables went inside the mall to nab the youths, who had by then called their friends for help. They reached the mall in a Mahindra Scorpio, police said.

“There were five to six men inside the SUV carrying baseball bats. They assaulted both constables and also forced Constable Rajesh into their car and assaulted him again. They threw him out a little ahead,” Kumar said.

“We have identified two of them as Sonu and Manish, both residents of Fazilpur village. We are conducting raids to arrest them. They have been booked for attempt to murder and hurting a public servant on duty,” the officer said.
