Four persons were arrested for the murder of a godown’s security guard, police said on Monday. They claimed to have solved three cases of godown theft with the arrests.

The four were identified as Jaicom alias Pahalwan (22),Bhushan alias Lamboo (22),Shankar (21) and Nafees (21). They were arrested on Sunday evening from Budpur for killing Tribhuvan Sharma,a security guard. Sharma’s body was recovered from Khera Kalan Industrial area in August.

“Sharma used to work as a security guard in Punit Garg’s godown, where pulses were stored. Garg had told us that 430 bags of arhar dal were recently stolen by unknown persons who broke the locks of his godown,” DCP (Outer) B S Jaiswal said.

One Ram Kishan, reported the theft of 120 sugar bags while one Sandeep said 228 bags of sugar had been stolen from his godown, police said.

During questioning, the four persons reportedly told police that they used to look for godowns without security guards or CCTV cameras. “They would strike at godowns located in dark streets and would go to there in a truck. They had roped in a truck driver, who parked his truck close to the targeted godown. He would get an equal share of their spoils,” Jaiswal said.

They usually targetted sugar and cereals as they can be sold easily. They would sell their goods to a person in Shahbad Dairy,Outer Delhi.

Police said on the night of the incident, the four went to a godown in Khera Kallan with five others. They saw the guard approach. “Four of them gagged the guard,Tribhuvan Sharma, and beat him to death,” Jaiswal said.

They stole Sharma’s watch and ring and dumped his body in a drain before fleeing with the bags of sugar.
