Jitender Singh Tomar’s arrest: Man who filed complaint before Bar Council

The 39-year-old lawyer is also currently a Standing Counsel for the Government of India.

The 39-year-old lawyer is also currently a Standing Counsel for the Government of India, appointed by the Central government to represent the Centre before the Delhi High Court in July 2014. Bhardwaj has been associated with the BJP, though he is not a member of the legal cell of the party.

Practising mostly in the field of corporate and civil law, Bhardwaj has appeared in several cases relating to banking transactions, forgery, fraud and related civil and criminal issues.

An alumnus of the Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, Delhi University, Bhardwaj says that the complaint against Tomar was filed in his “personal capacity as a lawyer”. The complaint before the BCD was on the basis of information received in RTI replies from the Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, which had denied he authenticity of Tomar’s undergraduate BSc degree.
