The nephew of former Delhi CM,late Sahib Singh Verma, has been booked under Section 307 (attempt to murder) after a real estate agent complained that he had fired in the air to threaten him. Police said that the incident was reported late on Thursday night in the Nihal Vihar area of West Delhi.

Police said the accused Pawan Lakhera was trying to extort money from two property dealer brothers,Rakesh and Arvind Singh. Lakhera had allegedly threatened to kill them if they did not pay up.

“The brothers, however, refused, which intensified Lakhera’s threats. On Thursday evening, the accused went to the brothers’ Paschim Vihar home with four others and broke the windowpanes of cars parked outside. They reportedly roughed up the brothers, who called the police control room,” a senior police officer said.

Two of Lakhera’s accomplices have been identified as Vicky and Manpreet. The police reportedly reached the spot and took down the brothers’ statements and left. Later in the evening,Arvind Singh ran into Lakhera. The accused allegedly threatened him for informing the police and fired a couple of rounds in the air.

“We’ve noted Arvind’s statement and registered a case of attempt to murder against Lakhera. Lakhera lives in Nangloi and is on the run since the case was registered.
