JAdore,the fashion technology department of Modern School,Barakhamba Road,presented a fashion show on August 31. Jaspreet Singh Walia and Reba Browne choreographed the dance sequence performed before the designs were displayed. Meher Narang and Sanrachna Arora,Class XI students,showcased their collection of white-and-gold themed Crown on the Ground. The Bling it Neon collection from Ishita Sadana and Cherrie Nagpal,Class XII students,was impressive. Garima Gupta,a Class XII student,showcased her collection The Gypsy Theory,in collaboration with Shubhangi Kansal. Shatakshi,a Class X student,was the media co-ordinator.
The Indian School hosts science exhibition
The CBSE regional-level science exhibition was organised by The Indian School from August 29 to 31. The exhibition saw the participation of 86 schools from Delhi/NCR,exhibiting 134 projects/models. It was inaugurated by Dr Sadhana Parashar,Director of academics,research,training and innovation,CBSE. The judges were Professor Sanjiv Sanghi,IIT Delhi; Dr Indrakant Singh,Associate Professor,Delhi University; Dr Arijit Dey,scientist in the Ministry of Water Resources; Dr Vinayak Naik,IIT Delhi,Profesor Subhasis Majhi,IGNOU,and Mrs Nita Rastogi,Principal,Sadhu Vaswani School.
The valedictory function was held on August 31 and the chief guest for the ceremony was educationist,Mr Premchand Palety,co-founder and Chief Executive of the Centre for Forecasting & Research (C-Fore),a multidisciplinary research organisation. Principal Tania Joshi announced the list of the best 19 exhibits and these were presented with merit certificates. These exhibits are now eligible for competing at the national level of the exhibition.

Springdales turns 58,holds cultural event
Springdales School,Pusa Road,celebrated its 58th birthday by commemorating the birthday of Shri Yudhishtir Kumar,founder of Springdales Education Society. The birthday cake was cut by Dr Rajni Kumar,Chairperson,Springdales Education Society,along with the Principal,Mrs Ameeta Mulla Wattal,and students whose birthdays fall on the same day. The main event consisted of an Arabian dance,a fashion show and dance performances on a medley of chartbusters by the students of middle senior school. The school choir and the school band also enthralled the audience with their performances. The event is eagerly awaited by all Springdalians and is celebrated with great enthusiasm and gusto.
Special I-Day assembly at St Marys School
Khula Aasmaan students of St. Marys School,Dwarka,organised a special assembly on the eve of Independence Day. The theme was Now and Then,highlighting the progress the country has made since Independence and the change the citizens wish to see in the years to come.
Flt-Lt. Diksha Shukla was the chief guest of the day. Ms Seema Bali,the Vice Principal of the school,presented a short report on the activities of Khula Aasmaan,bringing to light the contribution of the school towards the education of the less-privileged children in society. The tableau,Soaring Dream,was the main attraction of the event.
Inter-school commerce fest at Birla Vidya Niketan
BIRLA Vidya Niketan,Pushp Vihar,organised an inter-school commerce fest KREOIS-2013 on August 19. Eminent schools of Delhi participated in the competition. Dr P.C. Jain,Principal,SRCC,graced the occasion as the chief guest. The judges for the occasion were Mr Minoo Nandrajog,Professor,NCERT,Ms Simrit Kaur,Professor,FMS,Mr Dinesh Madan,Secretary,Commerce Teachers Association,and Ms Priya Bisaria,Assistant Manager,KPMG. The Principal,Ms Minakshi Kushwaha,and the Vice Principal,Mr Desmond DMonte,congratulated all the participating schools for an impressive performance.
Inter-school event at St Thomas School
St Thomas School,Mandir Marg,celebrated a week-long festival of inter-school cultural events called Epiphany 2013. The Principal,Mrs A. Amos,and the Manager,Mrs. Manoharan,along with other distinguished dignitaries,lit the lamp,inaugurating the event. This was followed by the first event,Sarojini Naidu inter-school poetry recitation competition. The next event,Srijan,was the most creative of all as it was organised by the Arts department. Contemporary India and its myriad issues was the theme for the prestigious Helen Jerwood inter-school extempore. The overall trophy was won by Springdales School,Dhaula Kuan. Moods and Melodies,the inter-school Western music competition,proved that music really has no boundaries as participants from all schools came together and performed to old and new beats. The grand finale,an inter-school dance competition,Alors on Danse,was an event everyone had been waiting for with bated breath.
