Raakhi Jagga reports from the protesting site
Farmers are sitting close to the cemented wall holding flags. They have arranged water bottles, salt, jute bags to save them from the impact of tear gas. So far, no injuries have been reported.
As farmers are being stopped from holding their "Dilli Chalo" march, one among them raised the issue of police asking them to show identity cards. There are cemented barricades installed at the border and Haryana police have fired tear gas at the agitators.
"The police are asking for identity cards, but they should give a guarantee that they would allow us to go Delhi. They say that there is no permission to go to Delhi, then why we should give the identity cards. We will give identity cards if they allow us to go to Delhi," a protesting farmer told PTI.
As of now, Haryana police have stopped tear gas shelling.
While Haryana police fire tear gas at protesting farmers, ten ambulances and 10 cars are readied in case of any emergency situation arises. Medical assistance teams too are ready to provide first aid.

As farmers are set to begin their Dilli Chalo march, Delhi Police is on alert and traffic is likely to be hit at the border and central part of the Capital.
"Delhi Police is on alert and security has been tightened at the Singhu border. A skeletal deployment has been made at the Singhu border but it may increase as per the situation at the Shambu border," a senior police officer told PTI.
A strict vigil is also being maintained at the Noida border as another group of farmers from Uttar Pradesh has been protesting there, he added. The officer said police are ready to tackle any situation.

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher has alleged that the AAP-led Punjab government is in alliance with the Centre and is working against them. Pandher questioned why media is being stopped at the protesting site.
"What we used to say that Bhagwant Mann govt (of Punjab) is having some sort of alliance with the central govt. Today, the way media is being stopped, the CM and Arvind Kejriwal should come forward and explain this. They (AAP) say that they are with farmers and labourers, then why they are stopping the media? Bhagwant Mann government's face has been exposed. Earlier we were against the central govt only, but now we have to deal with the state govt. The Punjab govt is trying to put the shutter on the doings of the central govt..." Pandher told ANI.
While farmers gear up for the protest, Haryana police is all set to stop media persons at a distance of “minimum 1 km”. Haryana’s ADGP (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar wrote to the Director General of Police (Haryana) and DGP (Punjab) that “in the interest of safety of media persons as well as their equipments”, the media persons should be stopped at a safe distance “minimum 1 km). The ADGP (Law and Order) had written a same letter to both the DGsP on December 5, too.
On Saturday, the protesting farmers waited to see whether the Centre would initiate talks to address the issue, but there was no response. Punjab farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said that they have not received any message from the Centre for talks to address their issues. Addressing the media at Shambhu on the Punjab-Haryana border, Pandher said 16 farmers suffered injuries and one of them lost hearing ability because of the teargas shelling by Haryana security personnel.
