In the second instance, a 26-year-old cable network businessman from Malad filed a police complaint with the Malwani police on May 9. (File Photo)Thirty-six hours after a 15-year-old girl was forced into a parked car and allegedly raped, the Faridabad Police said it has arrested a construction worker and a labourer in connection with the crime.
The development came following a joint operation by the local police station and the Sector 65 Crime Branch. Police said the worker has been identified as Intzar (24) while his accomplice is Vikas (20), a labourer. The duo was arrested on Tuesday.
In a press conference on Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ballabhgarh) Rajkumar Walia said they nabbed the accused relying on CCTV footage and secret tip-offs. Raids were also conducted in various states, including Uttar Pradesh.
The Hyundai Accent used in the crime was recovered, and the Forensic Science team inspected the crime scene. “Both the accused will be produced in court, and further action will be taken as per law,” Walia said.
According to the complaint filed by her family on Sunday, the girl was heading to school on Saturday when two youths forced her into a parked car by pulling her in through a window.
After allegedly raping her, they threw her out of the car near her village and fled. She narrated the ordeal to her family upon reaching home, who then approached the police with her.
A case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and on abduction charges.
“They took her to a secluded place and raped her, not in a moving vehicle as mentioned in some reports…,” ACP Ashok Kumar had told The Indian Express earlier.
“So far, we are narrowing down the details about the whereabouts of one of the accused, and the investigation is underway. We cannot share more details at this stage as it is a very sensitive case. We are trying our best to apprehend the accused,” he had said.
