The government Friday extended the deadline for nursery admission applications under the economically weaker section (EWS) category by two weeks till February 5. The move is expected to bring relief to parents struggling with online applications.
“Last date for nursery online admission application, under economic weaker section (EWS) category in private schools, is being extended for two weeks,” Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who also holds the education portfolio, said in a tweet.
“The Delhi government introduced portal for online admission under EWS this year. 64,000 applications received for 27,000 seats in different private schools,” he tweeted.
The Directorate of Education also issued a circular in this regard, clarifying that while the date for receiving applications has been extended, the rest of the admission process will be held as per the earlier schedule.
Nursery admissions began on January 1 and will end on March 31. The first list is scheduled to be declared on February 15, followed by another list on February 29. The deadline has also been extended for admissions to entry-level classes in private schools under the EWS and disadvantaged group categories.
