An elderly couple and their domestic worker were held hostage by assailants who ransacked their home in Ashok Vihar Phase 1 in Northwest Delhi on Monday.

According to police, they received a PCR call around 11.45 am reporting the incident, which had taken place around 11 am.

The police said that three to four unidentified assailants stormed into Om Prakash Aggarwal’s house, tied up the couple and their help, and looted the gold and cash in the house before fleeing in the couple’s car.

A crime team was dispatched to the scene, where they lifted fingerprints and other forensic evidence. The stolen vehicle was later recovered near Wazirabad JJ Colony, said police.

“The car was likely stolen to make a quick getaway and later dumped to avoid detection by the police,” said DCP (Northwest) Bhisham Singh.

“A case has been registered at the Ashok Vihar police station. The police have initiated an investigation and are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify and track down the culprits,” he added.
